Corrected Age Calculator (Preterm Infants)

Calculates chronological age, corrected (adjusted) age and postmenstrual age (PMA) at an assessment date. Corrected age is usually reported until about 24 months for developmental follow-up.

Definitions used:
  • Chronological age: time from date of birth.
  • Corrected age: chronological age minus prematurity (time from due date).
  • PMA at assessment: gestational age at birth plus chronological age.
All outputs are estimates to the nearest day. If assessment date is blank, today’s date is used.
How to interpret
  • If corrected age is negative, the baby is not yet term. Use PMA (e.g., “36+2 weeks PMA”).
  • Corrected age is commonly used for growth and development tracking in preterm infants, often until ~2 years.
  • Use local protocols for specific clinics (NICU follow-up, dietetics and developmental services).
